This multitalented athlete also excels in handcycling. Requiring superior upper body strength and stamina, handcycling is performed on a bicycle that is powered by the arms rather than the legs. Ernst never fails to impress and currently competes in approximately six international races and six local fun cycling races per year.

  • 1st place in OCC George Marathon, George in 2012
  • 1st place in The Argus Cycle Tour, Cape Town in 2008-2011
  • 1st place in the 2012 Melbourne Handcycling Road Race, USA
  • 1st place in the 2011 World Handcycling Championships Road Race in Denmark
  • Silver and bronze medal at the 2009 UCI World Championships held in Italy;
  • Gold at the Beijing Paralympics in 2008; and
  • Double gold (road race and time trial) at the 2007 UCI World Championships held in Bordeaux.
